Inspiration from the ‘Zoocriadero’…

Adriana Castro was born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1982. As a young girl, she spent much of her time exploring the pools and lagoons of her father’s crocodile farm (a.k.a. zoocriadero). It was during these years that she dreamt up designs she would later implement into her current Collection. Castro entered adulthood knowing that her passion was to design crocodile accessories; at this critical point she wisely decided to learn as much as possible about running a business. After receiving a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Purdue University she worked for Sony. She then started studies in Accessory Design in the recognized Art Institute at Miami International University.

The Adriana Castro Collection is born…

With its inspiration from the natural beauty and color palettes surrounding the Amazon, Castro’s first Collection (Spring/Summer 07) was aptly named Amazonia. Press attention soon followed with articles in popular magazines such as Ocean Drive Español, where she was featured in the much touted “En Caliente” section. El Nuevo Herald (Miami Herald) also featured Castro in a full page spread entitled “Innovative Designs in Crocodile Leather by Adriana Castro.” Then, Castro won the Fresh Faces in Fashion 2007 award for Accessory Design from renowned GenArt; subsequently, the Adriana Castro Collection was featured at the 4th Annual GenArt Fresh Faces in Fashion 2007 exhibit in Miami. Women’s Wear Daily also featured Castro in the “New Designers” section. Most recently, Adriana Castro was featured in Bag Snob, Purse Blog, Aventura, Vogue, Florida Travel + Life, Daily Candy, WWD Accessories and Ocean Drive.
